Meet Tracey Wall, our Courage sponsor, and find out why she chose to support the Mpower awards and how Empowering Mums can help you as a mum in business...

Meet Tracey Wall, founder of Empowering Mums

Why did you choose to sponsor the Mpower National Business Awards?

Having been a mum in business for almost ten years now, I totally understand the unique challenges it presents. I still recall starting up – the vision, the excitement, the determination to succeed, coupled with the many challenges of raising a young family and be the mum I wanted to be. The fears, the internal questioning, the steep learning curve and juggling those unique challenges of balancing being a mum with starting up and running your own business.

When I came across Nicola and her business Mpower I felt such an affinity towards her mission, our first meet up almost consumed a full day such was the great connection, synergy between our businesses and personal journeys. I wanted to help and support her awesome work in recognising and celebrating these unsung yet extraordinary mums who are quietly making such enormous difference nurturing adults of the future whilst running a highly successful business - alongside juggling all their roles and responsibilities as the central cog of their families and their homes.

Why did you choose the Courage category?

Sadly, many of the populations dreams and aspirations stay just that without coming to fruition, held back by fears, fixed mindset, uncertainties, challenges and obstacles. When a mum digs deep within her for that first ounce of courage to take that all important first step and take that leap of faith… and then succeeds, extraordinary things begin to unfold! My passion is in helping and supporting mums to make these steps and leaps and so the Courage category was a natural choice in helping recognise and celebrate these courageous mums who despite the unique challenges they face as a mum in business, often daily have shown great strength, courage and resilience to create a highly successful business that works for them and their families. In addition, by shining a light upon them in this way it enables them to inspire others too with what is achievable when you have that courage to take those tentative first steps and those leaps of faith!

What do you see as being the biggest challenges facing mums in business?

When a woman first becomes a mum, it’s like something triggers within – overnight we begin to experience such intense guilt, overwhelm, stress as we learn how to juggle so much. Where perhaps we were once self-assured and took good care of ourselves, we lose our confidence and become consumed with self-doubt, indecision, wondering who we really are, what we truly want and even what the future holds. We begin to worry what others think resulting in endless procrastination, ‘shoulding’ and people pleasing. We cast aside our own needs as we focus on everything and everyone else and in the process, neglect taking time-out to fulfil our own needs with self-care often leading to pouring from an empty cup, burnout and potential ill health. These combined culminate in losing our sense of self, purpose, belief and life vision.

Tell us a bit about your own business journey?

Seeking greater flexibility following the arrival of my daughter, a desire to return to good health from experiencing complete burnout from a highly successful corporate career spanning more than twenty years… whilst recovering I recognised there were many mums experiencing similar trying to juggle and fulfil the ‘supermum’ role! I found my real passion and purpose and subsequently took a courageous leap of faith and left my successful career behind, to instead focus on being the mum I really wanted to be and to start my own business specialising in helping and supporting mums and mumpreneurs gain greater confidence, balance and clarity to achieve an easier, happier life aligned with starting up and growing their own highly successful business.

Now almost ten years on I’ve amassed a vast amount of experience, understanding and solutions to these unique challenges mumpreneurs encounter. I’ve supported hundreds of mums and mumprenuers and identified four core solutions to the root obstacles that keep mumpreneurs so stuck and unhappily trapped with their lot! With my highly acclaimed products, programmes and services centred around these four transformational core solutions and my clients transformational and inspirational achievements and successes, I've become a highly sought-after confidence and mindset expert for mums and mumpreneurs.

What is your number one piece of advice to mums in the early stage of business?

Seek the support of the right coach for you, enabling you to get out of your own way, reach deep inside you and utilise your true passion and potential to fulfil your aspirations.
