OMG...WHAT A BOOK LAUNCH!

mpower news Oct 20, 2017

Where do I begin?

It's the morning-after-the-day-before and my head and heart are still in a spin after yesterday's whirlwind VIP book launch party in London, where Graham and I launched our new books together!

They say a picture speaks a thousands words, so here's our day told in pictures, taken by the talented London-based photographer Morgana Secco, who specialises in family photography.

You can see all of the pictures taken that day (and there are loads) in our Book launch gallery.    Can't wait to share the book launch film, once the amazing Kai Zammit has worked his magic!

So here is our day in pictures...

Arriving early at the venue, before the doors opened to receive our first guests, the day started with Graham being able to go and have a breakfast meeting with clients and my Event Manager, the lovely Amanda Flanders founder of Butterflies Business Events , here she is...

... inviting me to go and sit down and put my feet up, eat my toast and drink my coffee, while she took care of the whole setup...

Up until this point, I still don't think it had really sunk in...

Then our guests began to arrive in droves, of course there were very special family and friends who couldn't make it on the day (including Carlie and Liam because of school), we missed you and were thinking of you all...

Beloved family...

Business besties Ruth Oshikanlu, Tracey Wall and Emily Thorpe...

dear friends I've known and loved since university, here with Sarah Phillipson...

Basically, the room quickly filled up with SO many amazing people, and the energy was magical...

Of course, Graham and I wanted to say a few words...

I spoke about how well named my book The Invisible Revolution is, because the journey of bringing this book into the world has literally taken me on my very own Invisible Revolution, a mind-blowing experience...

Graham then compared the size of our books to the size of our speeches (hahaha), and since the aim of his incredible New Leadership Manifesto was so that busy leaders can digest the essentials of great leadership in today's digital world in just 20 minutes, his talk was equally as impactful...

Then we had a little tete-a-tete about who's is the biggest!  Hahaha...not really, I think this was us figuring out what came next in the day...

We wanted to tell everyone about THREE important words...

First word - Cake...

OMG, we had so many amazing cakes that needed to be eaten.  Originally I was going to decorate the room with fresh flowers, but not wanting them to go to waste, I discovered the incredible work of Kerry Herbert, founder of Centrepiece cakes by Kerry, who made me bouquets of cup-cake flowers people could eat before they went home...

Not to mention the two brilliant book cakes...

And this one too...

Don't they look good together, his and hers cakes hahaha...

The second word...

Having asked people to help us eat all the fabulous cake, the second word of the day was 'Charity', and the Posiripple effect something I talk about in my book - how we all have a positive ripple effect in the world above and beyond the boundaries of our businesses and our own family lives.

I introduced them to Poppy who was there from Gingerbread, a UK charity supporting single parents, and Gayle Berry, UK Director of Love Support Unite, a grass-roots charity empowering families and communities in Malawi through sustainable inititatives.

I got really excited explaining how a small proportion of the book proceeds go to these two charities, and that all the proceeds from the book's compangnion guide, The Revolution Playbook, go to these two charities and an Mpower busary to proviide free business masterminding, coaching and mentoring to single mums.

Then came the third word of the day...

Book...

Of course, some people wanted to make the most of being able to get hold of a signed copy of the book - and also kindly become a 'Sponsor of the Revolution' by purchasing a copy of the book to be donated through Gingerbread to single mums on their programme helping them to start up their own business

I naively assumed this book signing part of the day would take about 20 minutes, 30 mins tops!  OMG...

I could not believe we both had queue's for over an over (thank goodness we all had lots of bubbles and cake to sustain ourselves hahaha).

And so we enjoyed the experience of dedicating our books to our new readers...

We were humbled by the number of people who have taken one of our books home with them...

I can't tell you how many times I hugged my publisher, Alison Jones, founder of Practical Inspirational publishing - thank you Alison for believing in me as a first-time author and for believing in something you could not yet see, I couldn't imagine a more incredible team to work with to bring The Invisible Revolution to life...

And so...

In a hearbeat...

In the blink of an eye...

Befor you could say 'jiminey cricket'...

Just like that, the book launch party was over!

"WHAT...?
NO WAY...? ALREADY?"  I protested.

"BUT, we're barely getting started!"

...and that's so true...

The birth and celebratory launch of our books, is just the start of the incredible #invisiblerevolution and #leadershiprevolution that Graham and I are so passionate about sharing in the world.

So the launch might be over, but THIS party is only just getting started, so watch this space...

In the meanwhile, we send our love and a BIG thank you to everyone...
